Hello all,
This is Usman Khawaja from Sialkot and I am using broadband DSL connection – 1Mbps of LinkDotNet (www.link.net). I was an old User of Dancom and their services were remarkable without any problems. Since Dancom is no more now and it is being acquired by LinkDotNet. Although LinkDotNet provides plenty of products and services but I have tasted their “Home DSL” package and experienced a continuous headache and waste of my time and money. When you pay for a high-speed DSL Broadband connection, you expect to get a higher internet speed but LinkDotNet’s download speed is much lesser than an ordinary Dial-up connection. I am 100% sure that you will get much higher browsing, downloading and uploading speed on an ordinary Dial-Up connection in contrast with LinkDotNet’s DSL Broadband connection.
I have heard that this internet disconnection issue was created when LinkDotNet Genius people started merging both Dancom and World Online (WOL) user lines with Link Dot Net user lines. They officials could not manage merging different lines and as a result it the connection automatically disables and then enables after every 1-2 minutes. So this cat-rat game continues 24 hours. I talked with their customer support representative several times and reported this issue but they always said “We are working on it. The issue has been detected and now it will resolve in 2 more days”. I am still waiting to seew hen these two days will end. Now one month has passed but the disconnection issue still prevails and you have to stick with restarting your ADSL device again for connecting to internet. Due to these poor services, I am planning to switch to some other quality DSL connection providing companies. So I will strongly suggest every person not to use Link Dot Net and look for some other available options in the market.
Thanks for your attention.

i disagree with the generalization that “most” pakistani products and services are crap, but the ones that are should be highlighted, and the ones that arent should be even more highlighted!

Thanks for the valuable feedback.
@AA
I use a ptcl 1mps dsl connection at office and it’s the best thing i’ve seen. Gives me full data rate (120kb/s) and has no disconnections what so ever.

I have been using LDN for last few weeks and thier dowload speed is simply amazing. I faced lot of problems in getting the connection but now I am more than happy customer of linkdotnet 512Kbps.
May be you should check your phone line and distortion.
May 1, 2008 at 6:39 pm |
Thanks Shafiq for your comemnts.
I must say that you are lucky if you have enjoying a high speed from LinDotNet without any disconnections. But if you google you will notice that thousands of LinkDotNet users have complained about the same issues (Recurrent disconnections and low internet speed). I am a true victim of this whole story and that’s why I shred detailed thoughts in this thread.
At first I checked to see if the problem is at my side. I checked for distortion or any noise in my telephone line but after getting satisfaction from my side ,I reported these issues with LinkDotNet representatives and they accepted that LinkDotNet is suffering form disconnection and internet speed issues. I waited for more than 30 days to see if they fix these problems but I have not seen any progress towards resolving these issues. It is possible that LinkDotNet is proving fast DSL services in big cities like Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad. But many small cities are suffering with the cheap and annoying DSL services of LinkDotNet.
Anyways I have read so many positive reviews on internet about PTCL DSL performance. I am making my mind to switch towards PTCL DSL packages and I hope PTCL will not break my trust once again
Thanks for your attention.

Thanks Shani for sharing your personal thoughts about the usefulness of PTCL DSL. I have also read many positive reviews about it and people who used PTCL; they claimed not to have problems with its performance. So based on these reviews, I have also applied for PTCL DSL 1Mbps package. I hope I will not face a bad experience again what I did in case of LinkDotNet.
I will share my further thoughts about PTCL DSL when I will use it. Anyways, thanks for your valuable thoughts and they really helped me to make a worthwhile decisions about choosing a reliable DSL providing company.
Keep sharing your thoughts.

Hi USman,
I am totally new user of LinkdotNet, and get good experience it;s totally amazed that How PTCL will provide you desired services as you r thinking because i am x user of PTCl and lreave only because of it’s non-professional behaviour for their customer’s.
May 21, 2008 at 12:35 pm |
Dear Iron Man,
I wish you good luck with your LinkDotNet connection. I wish again that you could have a good experience with it also but I didn’t have. One of my friends in Sialkot is till using LinkDotNet DSL connection and he is still facing speed and disconnection issues. The local staff here is also admitting that LinkDotNet is still having problems and they are planning to change the router once again with other internet modifications to resolve these on going issues.
Anyways, I applied for PTCL DSL and my first expression is also bad about them. Their customer services representative told me that my connection will be activated within 7 days but it took more than 16 days to do it. So you are right that customer support of PTCL should be promising and needs to be much more customer-oriented. My real concern is Internet speed without any recurrent disconnections and PTCL is giving me good speed for the time being. Let’s hope it will stay for always
I will share my personal experience about overall PTCL DSL services in a separate blog and I hope to see your participation there as well.
Thanks for your attention.

Dancom (now link.net) has introduced a very unique internet package for Wah Cantt. This is called Dialup over DSL…. wow!!! What a innovation from Dancom!
My Dialup and GPRS works better than their DSL. Normal rate is 4K and burstable to 9K, though my package is 512K

They are providing perfect service and I never has had a single problem since I have subscribed their DSL connection.Speed is absolutely perfect.May be you should register your complain @ 042-111-600-111.My friend had disconnection issue in past but it was sort out within 24 hours of complaining.
May 26, 2008 at 1:57 pm |
I’m also a victim of LinkDotNet. I was using their 512 KBPS connection and DL speed was only around 4-5 KB at peak hours and disconnection problems as well. Then I switched to Nexlinx 512 KBPS Unlimited and I’m much happy that I’m getting 55-60 KB speed any time at the same phone line.

Hello Naseer,
I must say that you are a lucky guy to have such a good experience with Link.Net but I didn’t. I think Link.net was providing relatively good speed in bigger cities like Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi may be. But other adjacent cities to these biggies really suffered. I also reported this issue for a dozen times to their customer support representatives in Lahore and I waited for more than a month to get a fix of it but it was never fixed at all. Now after having getting this continuous pain from LinkDotNet when my job started to suffer, I switched to PTCL DSL package. I find it marginal also as compared with LinkDotNet’s DSL speed. It’s download and upload speed also fluctuates during peak and off-peak working hours. Anyways, this is a separate issue and I am still evaluating PTCL’s DSL, I will also share my experience with it in a separate blog soon and I hope to receive your participation there as well.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I am also been suffering from the mismanagement of customer service department since last one month. I have applied for the new DSL connection on 26th April 08, before that i was using Maxcom DSL. SInce then i was regretting my decision of switching the company. Since 1st May i have regularly calling the so called multinational LINK DOT NET asking about my status, and till today as of 29th May i have been listening the lame excuses, “SIR I PUT YOUR REQUEST ON TOP PRIORITY AND OUR FOLLOW-UP TEAM WILL CONTACT YOU AND SO & SO”. Upon their request i have submitted the termination letter 2 weeks ago. I have also asked to kindly give the contact numbers of the concerned person so that i register my complaint but they refrain from doing so. i have also searched their website for the purpose but i haven’t find any. I dont know how long such a company survives where their is no system of listening to their customers complaints.
May 29, 2008 at 3:25 pm |
Well Usman i do agree with you that LinkdotNet was really performing bad earlier but I am surprized to see rapid changes they have made now in Customer Servcies. I called their helpline 111600111 and they listen to you and after resolving the issue they called me back and confirmed me that either issue is resolved or not. My link was down and it took few days as my line was supposed to be changed but they kept on following me and daily i was receiving calls from thier outbound team and they made it sure that the issue was resolved.
i have just observed these changes in last 2 weeks. Thier support staff is also very cooperative and atleast they have sense that how to talk and what are eithics which PTCL lacks. The guys at helpline seems to be a bit cultured than the PTCL people.
I would say that do call at thier helpline and log your complain, they will might take few days but they make sure that it is resolved.
Wish you good luck

Hello Sheraz,
If DSL services of LinkDotNet and PTCL come to a comparison then PTCL does not have “Recurrent Disconnection issues” but LinkDotNet still has. PTCL provides comprehensive download/upload speed but LinkDotNet’s DSL speed is not consistent and it is comparable to an ordinary dial-up connection. I can quote this comparison because I have tasted both DSL providers. I am very happy for you that LinkDotNet support representatives resolved your issues and they kept you informing about the progress they made. But I want you to read these comments posted by Mr. Nouman Shahid on current performance and customer care of LinkDotNet. I hope these comments from a current LinkDotNet subscriber will tell you the other dreadful part of the picture which seems to me the real face of LinkDotNet DSL services.
And Sheraz, you are right that providing customer services is a powerful tool to make your customers happy but what we actually need is: high speed internet services without any issues. If these basics are alright then why anybody will taste customer services of LinkDotNet? I have recently switched from LinkDotNet to PTCL and I never contacted PTCL customer care representatives for reporting internet speed or any other relevant issues. Although PTCL still have issues which I have experienced with and I will share them soon in a new blog.
Thanks for your attention and keep sharing your thoughts.

Hi USman,
Thanks for considering my comments for Linkdot Net , i am using it’s 2Mbps connection in Just Rs.3900/- and as comapre with PTCL is 1000 times better if we will compare LDN Services ,No disconnection even Price as well.i am also saving 1000 Rupees monthly as PTCL is offering the same in Rs.4900/-(Not Fair in this compartive War of Broadband).
As i discussed my past experiance with PTCL ,i wish again that you could have a good experience with it also but I didn’t have.
They are providing perfect service and I never has had a single problem, i am also agreed with Sheraz ’s comments/opnion for LinkdotNet.
I hope it will always give us comparitively best and quality serives.
Thanks for sharing your comments i am also waiting for your experience with PTCL.

Is any one using link.net 512kbps in i8-4
how is the speed should i go for it?
Regards?
June 12, 2008 at 3:13 pm |
Dear Sheraz,
I don’t know about your experience and also i can’t confirm that if Link.NET has got improved in last few weeks. But, one thing is sure that i also used Link.NET for few months. At start, it was great but then i started having problems of disconnections. After every few minutes, my internet got choked and i always had to restart my DSL modem. After restarting, it always worked but only for few minutes and then situation was repeated.
I was totally pissed with this kind of problem. After suffering for at least one month, i planned to switch to PTCL and it was a great experience. I am still using PTCL 1 MB package for 2000 Rs. and it’s working like a charm. Their server also went down two times but overall, it worked.
Regarding customer support, whenever i dialied 1236 (or 18), i was able to talk to operators and things got fixed. So, it’s good overall.
I have tno checked Link.NET after that. It might have got improved because they also have to compete after all in the market. So, i wish them good luck too but i am still happy with PTCL Broadband and won’t go for a change until i get problems with them.
June 19, 2008 at 2:27 pm |
People who say the connection is good or not need to specify what kind of users are they? Frequent Downloaders? Casual net surfers? Online Gamers? Online Stock traders? Running a time-critical business online? They could very well be using a 2MB connection for reading emails off hotmail once a week and claiming that its a good service.
PTCL and LdN both provide high speeds but at a cost. Frequent disconnections, service outages for undetermined number of hours- even days, poor customer service, and so on. They may improve over time but now is not the time.
If you want my advice, just go for Cybernet. They provide you exactly what they advertise. No strings attached with high quality customer service.
June 24, 2008 at 5:25 am |
i think cybernet is very much behind of current war of Broadband,we can now talk about for Micronet,LinkdotNet,PTCL and wateen even comsats needs to remind itself.
although i am happy with LDn and regular download my nessary material , i think it’s ok

SALAM,
Link dot Net Internet Services are quite unmatchable. There is no other company in Pakistan, providing such quality and reliable services.Offering a wide range of products and packages, fulfilling each segment whether it
is Residential or Corporate.
LDN is now prepared to Launch its WiMax Services in Pakistan.
Across the Pakistan, LDN is the only company, which is providing Best
“CUSTOMER SUPPORT SERVICES”.

August 4, 2008 at 1:50 pm |
salam.I am very glad to know that the such company is launched in Pakistan like country. But i have a small suggestion for this company that company must issue a card of worth Rs 50 and which is for 24 hours and device is necessary for everyone which is purchased at once and the monthly package i think is not fully utilized by anyone.
If u do this than i’ll be very thankful to u and u will see that in short time u will be able to capture the whole market and ur profit will be increased.
THANKS

hi to all…
i m from jhelum and got a 1mpbs connection from systematix 3 days ago for 875rps per month with 5 gb volume. i also paid 6000 rps for a router which is on my roof now.
but the problem is i have used almost 4 gb volume in these last two days….so i thought to go for their unlimited cir package but thats 5500per month, i cannot pay them 5500 from my pocket money..
so i am now thinking about LinkdotNet 512kbps package, but i have read too many complains about LinkdotNet here.
please suggest what should i do now….

August 22, 2008 at 4:10 am |
Hi, I am Nauman, from Rawalpindi. I am using PTCL broadband for almost 5 months. There service is good. but if you got the problem of disconnection, or any other issue. This issue will not be solved before 3 days. And you know the network of PTCL. There linemans are “badshahs”. My home broadband is not working for almost 3 days and I am still waiting for PTCL to solve this problem. I am also thinking of changing my broadband. Because the issue of dis-connection rises 2-3 times in every month.
I am using nayatel in my office. Its service is remarkable. The connection speed is 2MBPS. At office the download speed is more than 200KBPS. And more than 10 people using this connection, others have laptops and they using wireless LAN. But nayatel has limited coverage. They have service only in Islamabad.
I am also thinking of LINKDOTNET

Dear Usman Khawaja
Hello,
I will just share an email from me to linkdotnet and it says everything! Please let this email get posted here .
Subject :LinkdotNet is dead for me!

Dear Rizwan Majeed,
Assalamualaikum,
Hope you are your family are doing well and benefiting from the holy month of Ramazaan.
I am sending you this email to inform you that despite countless complaints ( here are some complaints numbers: 156588,161336,168772) I am suffering from continuous disconnection problem which started in March 2008 and which repeats after every 1 or 2 weeks when apparently the so called “issue” is so called “resolved” by the LinktDotNet people and I get a call either from Mr.Asif Sahib from Islamabad or Mr.Imran from Lahore that the issue has been properly fixed this time and I wont have such problem in future. But somehow this disconnection issue comes back in a week or so and I am disconnected after every 1-5 minutes.
The recent development is that for the past 48 hours I am completly disconnected from LinkdotNet. I launched yet another complaint to help line people ( here is the complaint # 176517 ).I was told that there is some issue at exchange and it will be “soon” resolved but even after 48 hours I am fully and properly disconnected from LinkdotNet and I was told to wait for yet another 24 hours and hopefully the issue will be resolved.
Thanks to LinkdotNet, I am back on my old US Robotics external serial modem with Cybernet dial up connection despite the fact that I am an old customer of LinkdotNet/Dancom!
I am extremly delighted to say that by the end of this millineum my issue might be resolved!
I am personally thankful to you and Mr.Shujjat Shib from Abbottabad. If it were not you guys nobody else will listen to my problem which has not started not today but since March/April 2008 and I wonder if I am not tolerant enough to wait and be patient that this issue will be resolved?
I am sending you this email with the request that please forward it to some authorities at LinkdotNet who are responsible to deal with these issues as I am well aware that you are concerned with billing and not such issues.
I also want to inform you that even if this issue is resolved I might not use LinkdotNet services any more as I have decided to switch back to either old times dial up or DSL from PTCL. I am well aware that it will make zero impact on LinkdotNet if a customer stops using its services but it will defintely matter to me as I am hopeful that life might be a bit relaxed if I switch over to somebody else than LinkdotNet after waiting for around 7 months that my problem will be resovled permanently someday which never happened.
Thanks,
Best regards to you,
Dr.Saleem Khan

Link dot net looked very promising and cutomer caring company from their marketing policies but unfortunately they are turly oppsite. once a customer is trapped they even dont bother listening him. i am unfortunatly link 512k user. and having problem of slow download speed and disconnetion issues. i called them many times and they say “issue is in our notice and we are working on it. its congestion in exchange and will be removed in a week.” this what they told me for whole month each and every time i called them. ultimately when asked them to transfer my call to higher ups, they say we cant connect you right now but our team lead will call you on your cell. they commited this for about 5 times and believe it never happend that any of freak called me up… i am also seriously thinking to switch to PTCL dsl which will cost me almost half than LDN.
January 31, 2009 at 11:27 pm |
Bye bye LDN. I am fed up of its special “1 DPM” (1 Disconnect per minute) problem. I’ve been its customer for 20 days now and I know that all the female representatives with sexy voices over the telephone are there to keep the customers impressed and paying for a totally shit service which is not the result of some technical problem but infact they have set this up on purpose to serve bandwidth to another while the first one is disconnected — understandable corporate policy. I hope PTCL’s DSL is worth it. 3 disconnects in a week sounds like seventh heaven compared to this toilet.
February 19, 2009 at 5:21 pm |
I am using LDN 512 for 2 months in Lahore, in Jan09 the net used to work fine in morning and after 6pm it would became reduced to quarter. But since Feb09 they have become worse. giving 4-8 kB/s download speed only. I have called cs many times but they say that they r upgrading, and sometimes they say that the exchange has problem.
I am fedup pay so much and get dialup speed. ALL FRIENDS GO TO PTA WEBSITE http://www.pta.gov.pk and go in the complaints section and choose ISP then LDN and write a complaint against them.
March 20, 2009 at 9:02 am |
At the moment I am not happy with LinkDotNet services but will fully reject the comments saying that it is worst than dialup. I don’t see their download rate going further down from 25 kb/sec for 512Kbps. But I have seen some detoriation in services, although normally you get 40KB/sec and it gets 50 after midnight (as I am working for an American firm in night) but still if you wan’t to have the most regular services like “Khurram is online from 30 days and 15 hours” its impossible with linkdotnet as disconnections are there, may be after 8 hours but time comes your connection stops and you have gotta restart the router.
Situations were much better, but still its not very bad, working good for me, but now micronet rocks with new packages, so shifting soon

Well… I have been using linkDotNet since one & a half year, initially it was 512 kpbs, never had any issues.Download used to be excellent @ 55/57 kpbs, but now come this month, after they upgraded to 1mbps.I was getting a stable download @ 100/110 kpbs, but now since 3 days it has started to act very erratic,it keeps on fluctuating between 35/45 kpbs and even sometimes droops down to below 10 kpbs……..!!!
I was so happy to have been upgraded to 1mbps and was content with the service, but now,it is a headache!
I have sooooo many times put up the complaint with CS (Calling 111600111),but they come up with strange excuses and always commit to get it rectified, but still in vain…
Hope, they solve this soon, otherwise I’m terminating and going elsewhere!

I was searcghing online to find out victicms of LINKDOTNET. Its been almost 7 months i am using linkdotnet and ive no doubt its one of the shitest broaband service i have ever used. These people are taking piss. My download speed is like i am using a dialup connection. It will disconect after every 20 mints. There so many sites which it will refuse to open. This is my last month with LINKDOTNET. I am moving to PTCL i cant use this pain in arse service anymore.
Rant over
P.S my advise to everyone if you want to save urself from headques dont use this useless LINKDOTNET
July 13, 2009 at 7:51 pm |
Connection subscribed on first July and payed on 2nd July. Everything is
complete including line processing. But dsl modem is not received yet.
And i am dragged by their CSR. Iam fed by their lies.
Like on saturday they said we have send your modem
today and on Monday you will receive it. Now on Monday(13 July)
they said it will be done today and they will send a installation team
with a modem. No one is here today.
This not only thing.
I am being dragged by them everyday a since my payment. Each CSR comes
up with his own lame story and promise a new time frame.
It look like there complete lack of communication between higher
officials and CSR.
If they are doing this to a new subsciber then i have got complete image
how I will treated on later complain after using DSL.
They claim to be one of best ISP in providing DSL then, Why is this ?
